WASHINGTON, DC – The Marine Technology Society (MTS) today announced Donna M. Kocak as its new President. In this position Ms. Kocak will lead the organization in its mission to promote awareness, understanding, and the advancement and application of marine technology.

“I am really looking forward to this challenge. Our goals over the next two years will be to support our membership, improve membership benefits, grow the organization and place MTS in a great position for the future,” said Ms. Kocak. She will lead the way in building MTS relationships in Washington and around the world.

Ms. Kocak, in her present position as Advanced Programs Engineer at Harris Corporation’s Space and Intelligence Systems business segment, is spearheading maritime projects with industry, government and academia. She holds three master’s degrees and was named the Space Coast Society of Women Engineer’s “2012 Outstanding Woman Engineer.” An active MTS member and leader for over 20 years, Ms. Kocak has 28 years of experience in the ocean engineering field.

MTS would also like to welcome to its Board of Directors, Dr. Rick W. Spinrad (former NOAA Chief Scientist) as President-Elect, and Mr. Craig N. McLean (Assistant Administrator for Research at NOAA) as Vice President of Government Affairs. Rick and Craig bring a wealth of experience to the table and will help secure a bright future for MTS with their leadership and knowledge in the marine technology sector.
